Mickey Rourke is pursuing legal action against “Celebrity Big Brother UK” after his early exit from the reality show. The actor, known for his outspoken nature, claims the show failed to pay a previously agreed-upon fee and is now seeking compensation through legal channels.
In a statement, Rourke’s manager, Kimberly Hines, said, “There’s no question that when Big Brother booked Mickey Rourke, they were fully aware of both his public persona and how it aligned with his Hollywood rebel image.”
She said the show expected Rourke to be explosive, controversial, and attention-grabbing—and confirmed that he delivered exactly that.
Hines criticized the show’s handling of Rourke’s presence and exit, calling it disrespectful. She said the producers failed to manage the situation professionally, chose to take it too far, publicly embarrassed him, and used his removal as a marketing tool.
Hines also stated that “Big Brother” used Rourke’s well-known personality to generate publicity but later turned it against him. She revealed that the show is now refusing to pay Rourke his full agreed-upon fee, and confirmed that his legal team is actively handling the matter.
She added that the show disrespected Rourke’s legacy and crossed the line of basic decency, both professionally and personally.
A “Big Brother” spokesperson offered a different version of events, stating that Rourke agreed to leave the show after discussions about his use of inappropriate language and unacceptable behavior. They explained that, while no physical confrontation occurred, Rourke had used language deemed threatening and aggressive, which led to his exit.
The controversy arose from a moment in the April 9 episode when Rourke made several inappropriate comments about housemate JoJo Siwa’s sexuality.
After Siwa revealed that she is attracted to girls and her partner is non-binary, Rourke responded, “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.” Siwa replied, “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay and still be in a very happy relationship.”
Rourke then said he would tie Siwa up, prompting other housemates to steer the conversation in a different direction. In another comment, he said, “I’m going to vote the lesbian out real quick,” and made a remark using British slang for a cigarette, before adding, “I’m not talking about you,” while gesturing toward Siwa.
